I started raising Chihuahus in 1991 . I wanted to start with show quality but because I couldn't afford to show, I had to take what was available to me. As you will see from the dogs above and on my MALES & FEMALES pages I am now producing show quality. I only have registered AKC dogs.
All dogs have their faults but I am doing my best to keep on improving my stock. I try to keep my prices low enough so the average person can afford them because my main objective is to see they get loving homes. If they are also shown I consider it a bonus.
The Chihuahua is a fun loving little dog 6 pounds and under. They come in two coats-smooth & long. I like both coats and raise both. They are to have a terrier type personality which can be a little trying at times. They are cute and very lovable. If you don't have time or room for a big dog I highly recommend them. They make wonderful obedience dogs. I have added three MERLE females to my home. I have totally fallen in love with them.
The Chihuahua also helps people who have asthma! I did not believe this claim when I bought my first Chihuahua but they made a believer out of me. Thanks to having them in my house I breathe better. Which brings me to my other breed-the Chinese Crested.
I am allergic to dogs but not the Chihuahua or the Chinese Crested. I got my start in Cresteds through a friend and though I don't raise them anymore I still have two who are our pets.. These dogs come in three varieties-powder puff, hairy hairless, and hairless. I like all three varieties but prefer the hairless in the house. They took a little getting used to as a hairless dog just didn't look right at first. Their skin feels the same as ours and their personality! Well, what can I say. They are every dog lovers dream-THEY WANT TO PLEASE!
If you want a dog you can ignore-this breed is not for you. They demand attention, they love attention, and they can be very vocal when you talk to them. They also bark, for the sheer joy of life, when they play. They make fabulous agility dogs, housebreak easy, and love sleeping with you under the covers-if they are hairless. This breed, as well as the Chihuahua, is highly intelligent but unlike the Chihuahua when they get into trouble they want to make up as quickly as possible. The Chihuahua has a tendency to pout. I am trying to get my Cresteds 11-12 inches tall. Most of them are bigger then the Chihuahua but still a small dog though there are some large ones out there.
If you are ever in North East Georgia consider stopping in to see our family of dogs. If you can't stop by I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures in my web pages.
